Generating uvuyo License Key

uvuyo needs a license key. During startup an uvuyo node will check if a license key is valid. If no license is installed uvuyo will only start if the installation is not older than 14 days. An Uvuyo node will continue to run if a license key expires, but if the node is restarted if will no longer start. Customers should have a valid license key when using uvuyo. This article will describe how to create valid license key

To create a license key you need to run the following command:

java -jar uvuyo-kickstart-<version>.jar <date> <owner>

Version is the version of uvuyo-kickstart that you are using. Currently it does not matter which version of uvuyo kickstart you are using the license key is generated with any version will work. The uvuyo-kickstart jar is generated during build.

The date in the command file is the date until which the license is valid. The date is specified in the format DD/MM/YYYY.

The owner is the owner of the license key. The key is generated for a specified owner. If the owner does not match the generated key the key is invalid. If you want to specify spaces in the owner you need to double quote the owner (see example).

Example:

ubuntu> java -jar uvuyo-kickstart-1.0.0.jar 31/12/2025 "2Yetis Software UG"
key:e3e7-b954-97b1-ff83-23d1-074e-b4c9-7b1b-08d5-d717-b910
owner:2Yetis Software UG

The license key is stored in the $UVUYO_HOME/etc/default.properties. To install a license key, follow the instruction in this article: Installing License Key
